David Johnson: Personal Work…..

After a highly successful run at the Edinburgh International Festival (2007), David has recently returned from seeing his work produced off-Broadway (New York) (2008).  Simultaneously he was involved in production work for the Liverpool City of Culture (2008).  His recent Showcase for new Acting Talent played in Manchester and London (RADA) (2007/2008).  In 2007 David was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Variety Artists Federation onstage at the Palace Theatre Manchester.

Oldham Theatre Workshop:  David’s most well known and acclaimed achievement:  Founded in 1968 he built it to be Europe’s largest Young People’s Theatre Company, with over 1,500 members operating 50 weeks a year.  Mounting annually a minimum of five major fully-staged productions, with casts ranging from 40 to 600, playing locally and throughout Britain.  Foreign tours included Yugoslavia, Czechoslovakia, Germany and Poland.  In addition members undertook ongoing professional theatre/TV/film work for all major companies throughout Britain, Europe and the USA (Warner Bros, Disney, Spielberg).

David is also currently Drama Tutor for the Northern Ballet School, Britains premier regional ballet and dance school.
